KyTyPS5 Emulator Runs Wolverine and Dramatically Improves Astro Bot

The PlayStation 5 emulator KyTyPS5 has progressed from only booting Marvel’s Wolverine to launching and running the game, though the frame rate remains too low for normal play. A custom fork by Bryan Adams greatly improves Astro Bot, raising several sections from around 19 FPS to 60 FPS and fixing graphical problems such as the Sky Garden cloud layer. The experimental build is available on GitHub, and a separate demonstration shows Demon’s Souls Remake at 120 FPS on an RTX 5090 using Multi-Frame Gen X4.
KyTyPS5, a PlayStation 5 emulator, advanced from merely starting Marvel’s Wolverine to reaching gameplay, though performance is still far below a playable standard. The title had previously crashed after the main menu; within days, a modified build could get further.
Bryan Adams’s custom fork boosts Astro Bot: New Game rises from about 19 FPS to 60, the crash-site opening from 18 to 60, and the Sky Garden fly-in from 5 to 25. It also brings back the cloud layer in Sky Garden and clears up mottled planetary visual defects. The experimental release is on GitHub at commit 4068f4ac. Demon’s Souls Remake was shown at 120 FPS on an RTX 5090 via a 30 FPS lock and Multi-Frame Gen X4.
Faster PS5 emulation could broaden PC access to console-exclusive titles, affecting PC enthusiasts, preservationists, and players without Sony hardware. Improved Astro Bot performance may encourage community forks and experimentation, while unplayable Wolverine frame rates may temper expectations. If emulators mature, they could influence how exclusives are valued and how quickly games reach wider audiences, though legal, technical, and hardware barriers may limit near-term impact.
