Xbox has confirmed Mythic Achievements, a new reward for completing all original achievements in a game. The feature is rolling out to Xbox Insiders today, with a new Gaming tab and progress tracking. DLC achievements are not required, and eligible Xbox 360 games can already qualify.

Expanded Detail

Xbox says the feature is available first to Insiders, who can preview it before wider release. A new Gaming tab on profiles displays achievements, a next Gamerscore milestone badge, and completed games. Mythic entries receive a heroic frame. Progress bars appear atop each game’s achievement list, and players can filter to original achievements still needed. Later additions are labeled “add-on,” clarifying what counts.

Eligibility covers all original achievements, not DLC or post-launch updates. Once earned, Mythic status remains. Some previously completed Xbox 360 games already qualify. The rollout currently appears confined to Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings, with no confirmed timing for additional Insider rings.

Context

For dedicated Xbox players, Mythic Achievements may add a visible long-term goal and recognition for past completions, potentially strengthening engagement with profiles and older libraries. Completionists could feel rewarded without needing every add-on, though some may still chase DLC for other reasons. Insiders and achievement-focused communities may discuss rollout pace and eligibility. Broader effects on platform loyalty or purchasing habits remain uncertain and may depend on how widely the feature eventually reaches players.
