Star Fox 1.2.0 patch adds Battle Mode and four-player split-screen

Star Fox has received its 1.2.0 update. The patch introduces Battle Mode with three new stages, additional battle items, and four-player split-screen on a single Switch 2. It also brings campaign and challenge mode adjustments plus bug fixes.
The 1.2.0 update was first shown during a Nintendo Direct. Battle Mode adds Katina, Sector X, and Venom, plus new battle items. Up to four people can share one Switch 2 via split-screen, each needing a controller; Joy-Con 2 and Joy-Con can be used solo in horizontal grip. Split-screen also lets players enter random online matches as a team.
Other changes touch Campaign, Challenge, Battle, and Training. These include an abandon-campaign confirmation, clearer boss damage cues, a revised Sector X secret-corridor challenge, adjusted Bolse Core weak-point color, online lobbies that persist after a host leaves, GameChat camera integration with a USB camera, avatar/AR accessory use, and easier tilt-training goalposts. Numerous crash and freeze bugs are fixed.
This update may matter most to Star Fox players who enjoy local multiplayer and online team play, since four-player split-screen could make the game easier to share in households or gatherings. The added GameChat camera features and accessibility-oriented adjustments may also affect how some players communicate or complete challenges. Its broader social impact is likely modest, though it could strengthen community play around a first-party Nintendo release.
