NetEase Games Club taps EBANX for Latin American payment rollout

NetEase Games Club has teamed with EBANX to add local payment options in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Peru. The supported methods include Pix, SPEI, PagoEfectivo, and Mercado Pago, and they will be used in titles such as Where Winds Meet and Marvel Rivals. EBANX analysis estimates those five markets will produce $8.4 billion in game revenue this year, with Brazil expected to account for $3.8 billion.
NetEase Games Club is adding regional payment choices across five Latin American countries through EBANX. The first phase covers Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Peru, with Pix, SPEI, PagoEfectivo, and Mercado Pago available in titles including Where Winds Meet and Marvel Rivals.
EBANX-cited Payment and Commerce Market Intelligence data projects $8.4 billion in game revenue from those markets this year, with Brazil alone at $3.8 billion. Pix reportedly serves about 96% of Brazilian adults, while 60 million Brazilians lack credit cards; PagoEfectivo reaches 64% of Peruvian adults and SPEI over half of Mexican adults. Where Winds Meet is multiplatform, so the estimate likely includes non-mobile platforms.
This rollout could make game purchases more accessible for Latin American players who rely on local payment methods or lack credit cards, potentially widening participation in titles like Marvel Rivals. It may also normalize digital payments in gaming, benefiting payment providers and developers while raising questions about spending ease and consumer protection. The impact likely varies by country, depending on adoption, regulation, and how clearly payment choices are presented.
