RTX 5090 benchmarked in Gears of War: E-Day at 4K Ludicrous settings with RTX Mega Geometry

Gears of War: E-Day is now playable for Premium Edition pre-order customers, and DSOGaming tested its demanding Ludicrous preset on an RTX 5090. At native 4K, the card averaged 34FPS with a 28FPS minimum, while DLSS 4.5 Quality raised that to 56FPS average and Balanced reached 65FPS average. The game supports RTX Mega Geometry, which improves ray-traced shadows, reflections, and lighting stability.
The early benchmark used a Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32 GB DDR5-6000, Windows 10, and driver 617.14, comparing RTX 5080 and 5090. E-Day runs on Unreal Engine 5.6.1 and includes Hardware Lumen, ray tracing, Nanite, MegaLights, and RTX Mega Geometry, though the latter is limited to NVIDIA hardware. The built-in benchmark measured the Ludicrous preset, which the tester describes as aimed at high-end and future cards.
With DLSS 4.5 Quality plus MFG X2, results reached 90 FPS minimum and 104 FPS average; X3 hit 150 FPS, while X4 approached 200 FPS. The game lacks DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, and reducing RT reflections or shadows reportedly introduces visible artifacts, as can lowering Super Resolution quality.
This story may matter mainly to PC enthusiasts, early buyers, and hardware reviewers. It could shape expectations about whether flagship GPUs can handle cutting-edge UE5 features without upscaling or frame generation. If demanding presets become common, more players may feel pressure to upgrade or rely on DLSS/MFG, potentially widening the gap between high-end and mid-range experiences. Developers may also face scrutiny over optimization and feature support.
