The Pokemon Company, in partnership with SGC, will sell a 24-karat gold Gholdengo figurine for 1.5 million yen (about $9,000). Life-sized statues of Gholdengo and Pikachu, made with gold leaf, will be displayed at Yokohama Takashimaya from September 30 to October 5, 2026. The figurine stands 6 centimeters tall.
The solid gold Gholdengo figurine is priced at 1.5 million yen, roughly $9,000, and stands just 6 centimeters tall, making it a compact luxury collectible tied to the franchise’s 1,000th Pokémon. SGC’s display also includes a life-sized Gholdengo statue at 120 centimeters, built from 730 gold-leaf sheets, plus a 50-centimeter Pikachu statue using 200 sheets. Both will be shown on the eighth floor of Yokohama Takashimaya from September 30 to October 5, 2026.
The event pairs high-end craftsmanship with Pokémon’s milestone numbering, emphasizing the brand’s crossover into fine-art merchandise. The gold-leaf statues highlight the visual identity of Gholdengo, whose design is already metallic, while Pikachu’s inclusion broadens appeal to classic fans. The limited exhibition window and premium pricing target collectors and tourists in Japan.
This release could deepen Pokémon’s presence in luxury goods, appealing to adult collectors with disposable income while reinforcing the franchise’s cultural longevity. The high price point may limit accessibility, but the exhibition’s free viewing could draw casual fans and boost foot traffic in Yokohama. Such items may also influence how other media franchises approach milestone celebrations, blending nostalgia with high-end materialism. However, the impact remains niche, likely affecting dedicated enthusiasts more than the general public.
