RAID VR's Next Fest Build Excels at Inspection but Stumbles in Firefights

UploadVR tested the PC VR demo for RAID VR during Steam Next Fest. The game places players as interstellar customs agents who scan ships for contraband, then board vessels carrying illegal goods and fight smugglers. Its control panel and core inspection loop work well, but the post-boarding combat is limited to a small rectangular area, which felt overly restrictive.
RAID VR is a cooperative science-fiction roguelite shooter from FusionPlay, published by Impact Inked. Its free Steam Next Fest demo is PC VR only, while a Quest version is planned; the Quest store lists $12.99 with a $9.99 preorder. The demo runs from rank 4 to rank 6, takes about thirty minutes, and supports two players together, though the final game will allow four.
Players scan ships for illegal goods, choose whether to pass or intercept, then board and fight smugglers. Shifts are time-limited, some boarded ships have no combat, and contraband is pulled in with a telekinetic grab before a vortex exit. Weapons include a rocket launcher firing tiny aliens; some weapons and shields use timed reloads.
This demo may shape how VR players judge roomscale freedom in shooters: those seeking immersive movement could be disappointed by the bounded combat, while fans of cooperative sci-fi and roguelites may still find the inspection loop appealing. Developers could read such feedback as a signal to balance time-limited pacing with physical agency. Its eventual Quest release
