New Mod Enables Full Co-Op Playthrough of Dark Souls 2

Modder Yui released a Seamless Co-Op mod for Dark Souls 2, allowing up to six players to play the entire game together without session breaks. It removes fog walls, syncs world events, and carries progress to each player's own game. The mod also includes quality-of-life features and optional difficulty adjustments.
The mod leverages Steam's newer peer-to-peer networking tools to maintain a persistent shared world for up to six players. Deaths no longer separate companions, and boss victories don't end sessions. Progress syncs across all participants, with each player retaining co-op achievements in their own single-player save file.
Beyond core co-op functionality, the mod includes practical improvements like quick rejoin after disconnects, borderless fullscreen, and skipable credits. Difficulty balancing options let players scale enemy strength, while an optional curse system punishes repeated deaths. The mod also restores some legacy cosmetic items previously unavailable.
This mod could significantly extend Dark Souls 2's longevity by transforming a solitary experience into a shared social one. Friends and online communities may find new reasons to revisit the game, potentially boosting player counts and community engagement. The difficulty options also make the game more accessible to casual players, though purists may debate whether altered challenge dilutes the intended experience.
