Resident Evil Catalog Maintains Strong Sales as Six Entries Top 3 Million Annually

A Game File report says six Resident Evil titles each moved over 3 million copies between July 2025 and June 2026. Resident Evil 4 Remake led with more than 5 million, while Village and Biohazard also surpassed 3 million. Older remakes and even Resident Evil 6 continued to sell, though Switch versions and Revelations had lower figures.
According to Game File, between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026, six Resident Evil releases each exceeded 3 million units. Resident Evil 4 Remake was highest at more than 5 million; Village reached 3.6 million; Biohazard hit 3 million; the second and third remakes each moved roughly 4 million.
Older catalog entries also contributed: Resident Evil 6 on PS4/Xbox One surpassed 500,000. Switch editions of RE4 and RE6, plus 2017's Revelations, stayed below 300,000. Capcom is developing a Code Veronica remake for the next fiscal year, and a Zach Cregger-directed film earned strong early reviews and a Rotten Tomatoes record for game adaptations.
This performance may reinforce Capcom’s strategy of remaking and reselling older horror titles, which could affect players by keeping familiar franchises prominent while newer IP struggles for shelf space. Retailers and platform holders may benefit from steady catalog demand, especially on PlayStation and Xbox. Film and TV audiences could see more game adaptations if the Resident Evil movie’s reception holds. Conversely, lower Switch and Revelations figures may signal that portable versions and spin-offs need different pricing or marketing.
