Synduality: Echo of Ada Going Offline in 2027 with Free Update

Bandai Namco's live-service shooter Synduality: Echo of Ada is being taken offline in May 2027, with content updates ending next month. Rather than shutting the game down completely, the publisher plans a free update that will turn it into an offline experience while keeping its extraction shooter structure. The game launched in 2025, received a muted response, and was later offered through PS Plus Essential.
Synduality: Echo of Ada was Bandai Namco's attempt at a live-service PvPvE extraction shooter, mixing anime-style characters with large mecha combat. It arrived in 2025 to lukewarm reviews and a muted player response, despite some interesting ideas.
The title later appeared in PS Plus Essential in December of that year, often a worrying signal for online games. Content updates will stop after next month, and the servers are scheduled to close in May 2027. A free update will instead let owners play offline while preserving the extraction-shooter format.
The shift may mainly affect existing owners and fans of niche online shooters, who could lose multiplayer interaction but gain a playable offline version. It may also influence how publishers handle unsuccessful live-service titles, potentially encouraging preservation-minded alternatives rather than complete shutdowns. For PS Plus subscribers, it could serve as a reminder that included online games may not remain available indefinitely.
