Fan Team Announces Native PC Port of Super Mario Galaxy

Luma's Workshop is developing an unofficial native PC port of Super Mario Galaxy under the codename AstroCore, created without AI tools. A trailer shows the game running at 60 FPS, but no release date has been announced. The project will not include in-game assets, and the team plans to move on to Super Mario Galaxy 2 after cleanup work.
Luma’s Workshop, described as a decompilation group, is behind this fan-made conversion. The effort carries the internal name AstroCore and was built by people rather than automated AI systems. A preview video shows the title maintaining 60 frames per second, though the team has not shared a launch window.
The port is designed to ship without copyrighted in-game assets, a common approach among recent fan recompilations. After finishing cleanup, the group intends to turn to the sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2. Previously, players relied on Wii emulation to run the original on computers.
This may matter most to PC gaming enthusiasts and preservation-minded fans, who could gain another way to play a classic without emulation. Nintendo and rights holders may view such projects cautiously, though asset-free releases could reduce legal exposure. The broader fan-port scene might see more attention and contributors, while ordinary players may simply benefit from smoother performance and easier access. However, availability and quality remain uncertain until release.
