Trophy Games buys Playrion from Paradox in $2.6m deal

Copenhagen-based Trophy Games will pay Paradox Interactive $2.6m upfront for Paris studio Playrion, with an additional earnout tied to net revenue over three years. Playrion, which has about 30 staff and roughly $4.6m in annual revenue, will remain independently run in Paris. The purchase is expected to close on September 30 and prompted Trophy Games to lift its 2026 revenue outlook.
Copenhagen-based Trophy Games is buying Paris studio Playrion from Paradox Interactive. The upfront cash price is $2.6m, with Paradox eligible for an additional payment equal to 9% of Playrion’s net game revenue across three years. Playrion employs about 30 people and reports roughly $4.6m in yearly revenue.
Trophy Games will use existing cash and expects the deal to complete on September 30. It plans to keep Playrion independent in Paris and sees Airport Simulator’s technology as a base for future simulation titles. The buyer also raised its 2026 revenue forecast to $25.9m–$27.4m.
The acquisition may affect Playrion’s roughly 30 employees, who could see new marketing and development resources while remaining in Paris. Players of Airlines Manager and Airport Simulator might encounter faster updates or new simulation titles, though consolidation could also reduce independent studio variety. For the wider game industry, the deal may signal that smaller, proven mobile studios remain attractive acquisition targets, potentially shaping how similar teams are valued and integrated.
