RetroSync GBA-to-Switch Pokémon Link Adapter Set for December Launch

DrewWorks has announced that its RetroSync adapter, which connects original Game Boy Advance and GBA SP handhelds to Switch and Switch 2 consoles, will release worldwide in early December. The plug-and-play device supports Pokémon FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald for trading and battling, and it can receive firmware updates for future compatibility. Currently, it supports joining for trading and single battles, with double battles also listed.
DrewWorks has moved from an early prototype—wires and a soldered board—to a finished-looking adapter that uses USB-C to connect a Game Boy Advance or GBA SP to an original Switch or Switch 2.
The device is plug-and-play, requires no setup, and can receive firmware updates intended to add improvements and broader compatibility. It works with Pokémon FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald. At present, it allows joining for trading, single battles, double battles, multi battles, Berry Crush, Pokémon Jump, and Dodrio Berry Picking. It costs £39 and is scheduled for worldwide release in early December; an interest list offers launch notifications.
Retro Pokémon fans, traders, and battling communities could be most affected. By linking original GBA hardware to Switch and Switch 2, RetroSync may make old cartridges and handhelds relevant in current play, possibly encouraging local meetups, cross-generational sharing, and renewed interest in preservation. Because it supports only selected games and joining-only modes, its broader social impact may stay niche, though it could still strengthen ties among dedicated fans.
