Witcher 3 Remastered Update Takes 45GB on PS5, Launch Schedule Confirmed

CD Projekt Red has said the remastered edition of The Witcher 3 will arrive as a roughly 45GB update to the existing Complete Edition on PS5. The same download size applies to Xbox Series X|S, while Switch 2 users face about 50GB and PC is comparable. The update is scheduled for 29th September 2026, and it will replace the current version while preserving saves and Trophies.
CD Projekt Red's Marcin Momot shared platform download estimates: PC via Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S around 45GB, while Nintendo Switch 2 is about 50GB. PC size can shift with installed language packs. The remaster arrives Tuesday, 29th September 2026, with release times mapped by time zone.
Rather than a separate release, it updates the existing Complete Edition. Existing save files and Trophies carry over. A future expansion, Songs of the Past, is planned for 2027, and the current game is discounted on the PS Store.
The update may mainly affect existing PS5 and Xbox players who already own The Witcher 3, as a large download could require storage management and time. New or returning players might be drawn by the remaster and sale, potentially extending the game's cultural life ahead of the 2027 expansion. For CD Projekt Red, it could strengthen engagement without splitting the community, though the timing may compete with other autumn releases.
